Faribault, MN – St. Lucas Care Center Earns Quality Award in Long-Term Care
By: Paul Contris, president and founder of Mission Healthcare
Mission Healthcare strives to be the premier provider of long-term healthcare services in the communities we serve. We do this by providing quality programs and service to meet our residents’ unique needs – from assisted living to memory care to rehabilitative recovery to hospice care in Minnesota and South Dakota.
Earlier this year, Mission Healthcare’s dedication to exceptional care was recognized nationally by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL). In August, St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, Minn., was honored for achieving the first step in the AHCA and NCAL Quality Award program, which honors long-term care facilities that demonstrate a commitment to providing extraordinary care. The program is modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, which is a national award given by the President that recognizes U.S. organizations for their achievements in quality and performance excellence.
The AHCA and NCAL Quality Award program has three steps, with step three being the highest level. This level is given to organizations that have met the first two levels and demonstrated the most outstanding commitment to quality care. This year, three facilities across the country were honored for reaching the third step – a competitive and prestigious award. St. Lucas Care Center will continue to work toward reaching steps two and three of this rigorous program.
Our quality of care also extends to our other Mission Healthcare communities. Each year, we undergo a quality initiative program sponsored by AHCA. The “My InnerView” program involves a third party surveying our associates, residents and their families. This gives us a better idea of how we are doing not only with our resident care, but also with our commitment to providing associates with positive work environments.
These results are then ranked by various categories and compared against long-term care facilities across the country. We are proud that we often score in the top 10% in several categories. The results also tell us of any areas where we improve so that we continually strive to be among the best long-term care providers.
