Serving MN Seniors Living with Memory Care Needs

By: Paul Contris, president and founder of Mission Healthcare

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, as many as five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease. While there is no cure for Alzheimer’s, there are better treatments and ways to prevent the disease today than in years past.

As a provider of long-term care, Mission Healthcare understands the growing need for specialized Alzheimer’s and dementia care in our communities. At four of Mission Healthcare’s communities, we have specific units where residents with memory care needs live. These units, which we call “neighborhoods,” have a team of associates assigned to them who are trained to provide care that is tailored to residents with dementia.

Mission Healthcare believes in fostering environments where residents feel comfortable and part of their communities. We understand that residents with dementia may often feel confused or uncomfortable about their environments, so we strive to create warm, inviting atmospheres where they feel at home.

Senior Care Homes in MN

Mission Healthcare offers memory care services at the following:

Evergreen Terrace Healthcare Center (Grand Rapids, Minn.) – Our memory care program at Evergreen Terrace Healthcare Center is dedicated to “celebrating the spirit of our residents and maintaining the highest quality of life possible for each resident entrusted to our care.” We recently completed a $900,000 renovation project at our Evergreen Terrace Healthcare Center to create a separate unit dedicated to the care of residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

St. Lucas Care Center (Faribault, Minn.) – We have a memory care program called “Sheltering Arms” that provides a safe and secure environment for residents with memory care needs. “Sheltering Arms” is a social care model in which we provide care that promotes creativity and independence for residents in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Red Wing Health Center (Red Wing, Minn.) – We have a neighborhood designed for residents with various forms of dementia. Our memory care program specializes in behavior management to provide care to residents with problematic behaviors.

Wheatcrest Hills Care Center (Britton, S.D.) – Our memory care program at Wheatcrest Hills Care Center offers a quaint, comfortable setting for residents with dementia. It is the only memory care unit within a 50-mile radius.
